You’ve discovered you have a hearing loss and need prescription hearing aids, but how do you choose?
Being able to wear the right hearing aids for your unique level of hearing loss is critical to your ability to hear all the sounds you love again. Our patients often ask us what we think is the best hearing aid, but, in truth, there is no best hearing aid. However, there is a best hearing aid for you.
SLENT Hearing and Balance offers hearing aids from the top hearing aid manufacturers so that you can be guaranteed that you’ll be prescribed the hearing aid that fits your lifestyle and budget best.
There are many hearing aids that we value because of the features they offer and the sound quality they have. One of these is the ReSound ONE, ReSound’s newest hearing aid.
We’ve outlined its benefits below to help you in your choice of hearing aid when it’s time to upgrade, or to perhaps add to your list of current possibilities.
The ReSound Story
ReSound was founded in 1943, and today, ReSound has multiple hearing aid models for people with mild to profound hearing loss. It is constantly advancing its audiology technology to make its hearing aids as technologically sound and as comfortable as possible for hearing aid wearers.
Because ReSound is committed to ensuring people with a hearing loss get the best hearing care and treatment possible, they only sell their hearing aids through audiology professionals.
The ReSoundONE
Prescribed for those with mild to severe hearing loss, the ReSoundONE has two different styles of microphone and receiver-in-ear (M&RIE) hearing aid.
- The behind-the-ear (BTE), for those who need more power for their hearing.
- The receiver-in-ear (RIE) places a speaker in your ear canal.
Features
There’s a lot to like about the ReSound ONE. It uses three microphones, including two traditional microphones and a third that sits in the ear canal. It also has great battery power and really good feedback reduction, as well as a great smartphone app.
Let’s look at each feature individually:
All Access Directionality – so that no matter where you’re standing, you can hear what matters.
Your hearing aid adjusts to your listening patterns so that you don’t get the kind of listening fatigue you might have with other hearing aids – devices that don’t take care of noisy or challenging background noises.
Background noise reduction – It turns down the background noise just enough so it doesn’t eliminate it, and you can focus on the speaker yet enjoy hearing your surroundings at the same time.
Wind – One of the things the ReSound ONE is good at is that no matter how windy it might be, you can still focus on another person’s speech.
Ultra Focus – It also has what’s called Ultra Focus, so that no matter what kind of background noise is going on, you can focus on the conversation in front of you.
Support – You can get remote hearing care for the ReSound ONE from your audiologist via Sounds Assist Live video calls or remote fine-tuning through the ReSound Smart 3D app.
Design – The ReSound has a new design compared to its older models to where it fits each person’s unique ear size better, and it has three new colors – now totaling eight compared to the older models’ five.
Wireless streaming – connects you to your phones, tablets, and TV thanks to ReSound’s range of wireless accessories. The TV volume can be sent directly to your hearing aids, and you can connect your hearing aids to your iPhone or smartphone and stream audio and wireless calls straight to your ears via Bluetooth.
You can also choose to stream to just your right or left ear if you’d prefer, and the app has basic presets for each ear for, say, a restaurant, a walk outdoors, or a party.
Hands-free calling – Enjoy hands-free phone and FaceTime calls for the iPhone and the
iPad as long as your iPhone or iPad is one of the newer models. You don’t even need to hold your iPhone or iPad; you can tap a button on your hearing aids to answer the call.
If you have ReSound ONE hearing aids already but you’d like to get hands-free calls on your iPhone, we can upgrade you to this feature by doing an update here in the office.
Batteries – Comes in both a traditional and rechargeable model.
The portable charger offers up to three days or 30 hours of quick charging on the go without the need to plug it in anywhere, so you don’t need to worry about carrying batteries with you. The charging case will let you know how charged the hearing aids are with an LED display.
The standard/plugged-in charger will charge your hearing aids at night for a full day of battery life. Also, the ReSound ONE smart app lets you know when your batteries are running low so that you can charge them up again as needed.
Sound quality – One of the things ReSound says it does well is mimic more closely how the sounds you hear around you are collected and delivered to the brain.
They have developed the ReSound ONE to deliver the “whole sound picture” so that hearing aid wearers can choose the sounds they want to listen to and lower the volume on the sounds they don’t.
