Despite the famous lines from ‘The Night Before Christmas’, sounds and stirrings are abundant during the holidays. You want to be able to hear everything clearly and that’s one of our aims at SLENT Audiology. We work with you to achieve a great quality of life all year round and especially during the festive season. Here’s a fun list of 7 sounds you can be thankful for with the right hearing support:
It’s not Christmas without seeing at least one Santa in a sleigh. This is the creative moment when you must find an explanation for your kids as to why Santa is at the mall rather than the North Pole. With that, comes the magical ring of sleigh bells – the sound that everyone associates with the jolly man in red.
Love it or hate it, the first time you hear those familiar tunes, you know the season has really landed. You might feel a bit resistant at first but, before you know it, you’ll be rockin’ around the tree.
For the gentler festive music experience, how about some carols? Not only are they soothing and uplifting, they also evoke the traditional feel of the holidays.
Think about the different styles of present opening. You probably know some people who carefully remove the tape and fold, or others who just rip away with delight. What about those who shake for a bit first to see if they can guess what it is? All these experiences are enhanced with clarity of sound.
Are you one of those relatives that like to buy noisy toys for the kids and then leave them for the parents to enjoy for a long, long time afterward? In our opinion, this never gets old but, while you’re there, you want to be able to fully appreciate the joy and experience of the child which is, after all, the real reason we buy them gifts like this.
Conversation and laughter
Perhaps the most important aspect of Christmas is getting together with loved ones. That’s when the yearly catchup can begin, and you get to reaffirm the bonds that maybe don’t get as much attention throughout the year.
All the above come together to create a festive tableau that shows you the true meaning of Christmas. We are all blessed in some ways and taking the time to notice is one of the keys to happiness.
We hope you enjoy your festive season and send you all the best from SLENT Audiology. Come and visit us one of our 3 clinics to get your hearing assessment in Mandeville, Hammond or Slidellneeds. Click here to view our office locations and book your hearing test.
